St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Online Fingerprint Scheduling Portal  

We now offer online scheduling!

The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office Online Fingerprint Scheduling Portal now allows you to schedule your own appointment, at your convenience.


AS OF OCTOBER 1, 2016, CJIS has changed several fees for background checks.  Please see the new fees based on the service needed and be prepared to pay the new fee using cash in exact change or a money order.  If you have any questions about the recent change in fees, please contact us.

We are currently scheduling appointments on Tuesday’s ONLY from 9AM to 3PM, by appointment ONLY.  All fees must be paid using cash in EXACT change or a money order made out to the St. Mary's County Sheriff’s Office.  If you would like a confirmation of your scheduled appointment, please provide an email address.  This information will also allow you to cancel an appointment should you need to.  We encourage you to check the Fingerprint Scheduling Portal regularly for any possible cancellations.    

If you need immediate assistance and can not wait for an appointment, please go to the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services website located at for a complete list of all Fingerprint Providers in the State of Maryland.


Please bring the following items with you for your appointment:

-a government issued photo ID (ie. a Driver's License, Government Issued 

Identification Card or Passport) 

-the completed LiveScan Pre-Registration Application (for ALL appointments) 

-the FD-258 Cards (for ink prints only), 

-and your form of payment (cash in EXACT change or money order)


If you scheduled a LiveScan appointment you MUST bring your authorization number AND ORI number on the Live-Scan Pre-Registration Application.  You need to complete the Applicant Information portion of the form and the authorization number and ORI number needs to be completed under the Agency Information portion of the form.  If you do not have this information, please contact the person or company who is requesting your fingerprints, as they must provide this information in order for your prints to be processed properly.

If you scheduled an ink fingerprint appointment AND the person requesting your background provided you with an FD-258 card you MUST bring the one they provided you with.  If the person requesting your background did not provide you with an FD-258 card, the Sheriff's Office can provide one for you at no additional cost.  

   Also, please complete a Live-Scan Pre-Registration Application.  You ONLY need to complete the Applicant Information portion of the form!
